Worked in the radiation oncology lab of Raquibul Hannan, M.D., PhD, focused on understanding how radiation therapy targeting cancer tumors could lead to an immune response attacking other cancerous cells - Lab results useful for clinical trials to test immunotherapy cancer treatments, including current SAbR and SBRT clinical trials. Our experiments showed genes SMARCA4 and APOBEC3B impacted radiation immunotherapy
Worked with the Cooper Institute research team under Laura DeFina, MD and Beth Wright, PhD, in a Cooper Institute longitudinal study utilizing their 116,000-person population database. Our study showed the association between Omega-3s and Cognitive Function in older adults: individuals with greater Omega-3 index (greater than 8.0%) have a relatively higher MoCA score (MoCA=Montreal Cognitive Assessment). Adults should be encouraged to add Omega-3s into their diets through consuming fatty fish, plant oils, or other supplements containing Omega-3s.
This poster describes my research results after conducting "wet lab" research in a radiation oncology lab at UT Southwestern during Summer 2022.
After engaging in an independent study and summer internship with the Cooper Institute, I created this poster to describe my results in using the Institute's database to correlate the benefits of Omega-3s on cognitive function.
My 17-page research paper: “Freedom Fights Infections: How the U.S. Government’s Collaboration with the Private Sector Developed Penicillin into the Allies’ Silver Bullet in World War II” was published by The Concord Review in its Fall 2022 issue.
